Dr. Fabrizio Ceschin

Dr. Fabrizio Ceschin serves as a Reader in Design for Sustainability at Brunel University in England, overseeing the Design for Sustainability research group and contributing to the Design for Sustainable Manufacturing research line. His academic journey includes six years with the Design and Innovation for Sustainability research unit at Politecnico di Milano, followed by his current position since 2012. His research spans Design for Sustainability and Circular Economy, focusing on innovative approaches that merge environmental, socio-ethical, and economic sustainability in product design, services, and business models. Additionally, he covers co-design, emphasizing multi-stakeholder participatory design processes. Professor Ulrik Jørgensen

The programs of Sustainable Design and Bæredygtig Design have many mothers and fathers, but there is one who stands out. It is Professor Ulrik Jørgensen without who the programs wouldn’t exist. Professor Jørgensen studied electronic engineering at the Technical University of Denmark during the 1970s and was very active in the student movement that created Roskilde University and Aalborg University back then. He participated in various academic entrepreneurial initiatives during the 1980s, 1990s at the Technical University of Denmark, including establishing the field of Science and Technology Studies. During the 2000s he co-created with other colleagues the Engineering programs MSc and BSc in Design and Innovation at DTU. In 2012 he was the key player in facilitating the movement of 26 researchers from DTU to Aalborg Univesity in Copenhagen and the establishment of the programs for which we celebrate 10 years of existence today. He also supported the creation of the Center for Design and Innovation for Sustainable Transitions, which now has evolved into the research groups of Design for Sustainability and Planning for Urban Sustainability at the Department of Sustainability and Planning.
